After last week’s tough outcome, the Humboldt Broncos bounced back this week with their Jan. 26 win at home against the third place Melfort Mustangs.

The Colorado Mammoth were a big test for Saskatchewan, having not lost in four contests. The Rush were equal to the task, coming out on the right side of a 12-10 game for their first win at the SaskTel Centre, in front of 8,600 passionate fans.

The 2018 games inch closer and North Battleford's bid to host them are making the final rounds. Director of Leisure in North Battleford, Bill Samborski, says they are one of two finalists.

It was another busy weekend in the Saskatchewan Prairie Hockey League with a full slate of games Friday and another busy night Saturday.

The Battlefords AAA Sharks are working towards accomplishing their goals in the playoffs, and are beginning to be acknowledged for their hard work they have put in this season.

The Battlefords Stars clashed with the Notre Dame Argos for the second time in eight days, looking for the sweep and their eighth win of the month. To say they played well would be an incredible understatement.

A heartbreaking loss to Melfort in the dying seconds of the third period gave the North Stars a rare two-game losing streak.

Thursday night the AAA Stars had yet another opportunity to help solidify a playoff spot clashing against a team just three points behind them in the standings.

The North Stars wanted to turn the page four days after a rare 7-1 defeat at the hands of the La Ronge Ice Wolves. On the other side of the rink, Melfort was also looking to rebound, taking a 6-3 loss to Humboldt Tuesday.
