It was a disappointing week for the Humboldt Broncos. The Broncos went out on the road this week with some momentum after picking up three of a possible four points. They return home licking their wounds after finishing the week 0-3.

Skiers were carving up the trails at Carlton Trail Ski Club Jan. 24, as the club hosted the Sask Cup #3 cross-country skiing race. The race brought out 65 competitors in 23 different events and skiers ranged in age from 4- 64 years old.

It’s not a secret that the Stars are one of the hottest teams in the SMAAAHL. After splitting a series against the third place Moose Jaw Generals, they were at it again in Notre Dame. Coming into the weekend, the Stars were 5-1 in January.

The North Stars have had the privilege of playing in three tremendous small communities this season. First in Pinehouse, then in Wadena and their final stop was in Edam for a tilt against the Ice Wolves.

Just one year ago, the Battlefords AAA Stars were one of the best teams in the SMAAAHL, finishing in fourth place during the regular season with an impressive record of 28-15-0-1.

Life on the road was kind for the North Stars, beating Weyburn before travelling to Wadena to play Notre Dame on an unforgettable hockey day in Saskatchewan.
