The Battlefords North Stars clashed with the Estevan Bruins Saturday night at the Civic Centre, looking to further their dominance in the SJHL and the Finning Division. Coming into the tilt the North Stars were riding a four game win streak.

The Battlefords Stars took on the last place Swift Current Legionnaires Saturday afternoon as part of a back-to-back two game series.

The Battlefords had a chance to earn their fourth straight victory and stay perfect in 2016 Friday night at the Civic Centre. The black and white were up for the task.

Last time the Stars and Blazers faced off, Saskatoon made a tremendous comeback in the final frame to edge the black and white, scoring three unanswered. The game left them undefeated for the month of December, winning eight of their last nine.

Sask Alpine is running a series of U12 camps to support the programming for young skiers and coaches. The first camp was held Dec. 28 and 29 at Table Mountain Regional Park. There was a great turnout.

After splitting the series with Meota, the Beaver Blues travelled to Cut Knife for a weeknight game against the ninth place Colts.

North Battleford’s Emile Francis, nicknamed “The Cat,” has been honoured with the Wayne Gretzky International award. Francis is a former player, coach and general manager in the National Hockey League, most notably with the New York Rangers.
