If there’s one thing Battlefords hockey teams seem to have in common lately, it’s their troubles beating Weyburn.

A third period comeback fell short Saturday night as the Battlefords Sharks lost on the road to the Weyburn Gold Wings 3-2 in midget female AAA hockey action.

The season is over for John Paul II Crusaders football. The Crusaders took on the Melfort Comets in Melfort on Saturday in the provincial semifinal, and were defeated decisively by a 45-15 final score.

The Battlefords Stars, currently on a lengthy stretch away from the Civic Centre, were looking to get a road winning streak going as they sought to win their second in a row in Swift Current against the Legionnaires on Saturday afternoon.

Two Northwest football teams are playing in provincial semifinal games this weekend. In 2A six-man, the Hafford Vikings will play in Birch Hills. The John Paul II Crusaders will travel to Melfort in 3A nine-man action.
