The Battlefords and District Ladies' Fastball League went down to the final game, but Wednesday the game wasn't very long.

The first two rounds of the Men's Mid-Amateur Championships in Lloydminster were dry, but the next two may not be.

Bats were flying on a dry Marysburg ballfield on July 10, while rain fell in other parts of the region.

The North Battleford Beavers have done their jobs to get into the playoffs, but nothing is official yet. The Beavers will be scoreboard watching for the next couple days after they beat the Border City Blue Jays at home Wednesday night.

It was a busy weekend for the Humboldt AAA Midget Dodgers baseball team. The Dodgers played two doubleheaders back to back July 9 and 10 in Regina. "The boys played extremely well... We had four games in basically 24 hours," said coach Roger Gerwing.

Ed Stefureak was born Sept. 7, 1933, in Vegreville, Alta. As a 15-year-old, he played with his home team in tournaments around the province, as a pitcher and key member of the local nine.

Rarely is it a good thing when the numbers on the golf course drastically increase, but in the case of the Battlefords United Way golf tournament the rise in the number of participants and sponsors was welcomed with open arms.

The ice may be out of the Civic Centre, but there has been no shortage of work coming from the Battlefords North Stars hockey club.

The North Battleford Beavers appeared to have things moving in the right direction Monday in Wilkie, as they played a make up game against the Wilkie Brewers.
