The Sharks took on the Melville Prairie Fire on the weekend and something had to give, as both teams came in without a win. Unfortunately for the Sharks, Melville was able to take two wins, both by 6-1 scores.

For those who had a chance to watch the Battlefords North Stars play Yorkton Thursday it appeared the team was starting to move in the right direction having won five of their past seven games and winning 8-3 over Yorkton.

After taking a beating in Tisdale the previous weekend, the Battlefords Midget Stars were back in action on the weekend, this time against the last place team in the Saskatchewan Midget AAAA Hockey League.

Serves, spikes and sets filled the gym at North Battleford Comprehensive High School Oct. 16, as the school played host to the annual junior girls volleyball tournament. The round robin kicked off at 9 a.m.

It was a penalty filled weekend with two results the Battlefords Midget Stars will hope to soon forget. The Stars were in Tisdale and lost 4-0 and 9-1.

Dozens of high school athletes from the Northwest laced up their runners and hit the dusty trail in Regina for the provincial cross-country meet Saturday. One Battle West athlete captured a goal medal while several others placed in the top 10.
