Hockey may not be on the minds of most in the Battlefords, but Battlefords North Stars head coach and GM Ken Pearson never seems to take a break.

A celebration of sportsmanship, dedication, and participation was held in Middle Lake last week.

The behind the scenes operations of a hockey club produces many thankless hours or volunteers jobs and are essential to the success of a junior hockey club.

The Midwest Expos were in Kindersley to take on the Raiders Monday and the home team dominated with a 15-4 win. Kindersley improved to 3-4. The Expos sit at 3-6.

The Unity Bantams were at the flats Monday and lost 5-1 to the Edam Ladies. Edam led 2-1 until scoring three runs in the fifth inning. Tami Duhaime was the winning pitcher.

That is how senior baseball is supposed to be played. Friday night, the undefeated North Battleford Beavers took on the 5-1 Wilkie Brewers at Beavers Lions Stadium.

JUNE 23 Battlefords and District Ladies' Fastball League has one day remaining in the regular season for make up games. JUNE 24 North Battleford Golf and Country Club will host the annual Battlefords United Way Golf Tournament.

Two days of beautiful weather produced some great scores for 44 ladies golfing at the North Battleford Golf and Country Club. Kathy Ziglo competed in the individual championship flight in the Ladies' Northwest Open.

The local swim club sent just seven swimmers to the Lawson Aquatic Centre in Regina May 14 to 16, but those seven produced 33 top 10 finishes. The busiest swimmer representing the Orcas at the meet was Katie Serhienko. Katie swam in 14 races.
