The Northwest Vipers, played their first game in the Junior B Western Canadian Championships Thursday and pulled out a 8-5. The Vipers scored three runs in the first and five in the fifth to secure the win. They also stranded eight base runners.

While many were at the lake enjoy the August Long Weekend, Unity hosted the 2010 Western Canadian Midget B Girls' and Boys' Softball Championships.

Sweetgrass Light were up against the FC Elite and depending on the result of the final game of the regular season, three teams had a shot at first place.

"I get cheerleaders now, I really do," said Wiltermuth after her swim across Loon Lake a few weeks ago. A boatload of friends and family members including her mother Pat Bullock joined her in the middle of the lake, about halfway through the swim.

The horses fidget in their starting positions, the whites of their eyes visible as the anticipation builds, and then they're off, twisting around the barrels in a flurry of dirt. The drivers are yelling as they snap the reins, goading the horses on.

After three games at the Western Canadian Junior B Women's Softball Championships in Winnipeg, the Northwest Vipers are 3-0. After winning their first one 8-5 Thursday, they went on to win 9-4 over the Hamiota Hurricanes of Manitoba.

The results are in and the North Battleford Beavers can officially say they have the best player in the league on their roster. Rylan Rogers was voted as the 2010 North Saskatchewan River Baseball League's Most Valuable Player.

Wednesday marked the start of both semi finals series in the North Saskatchewan River Baseball League. The first place Lloydminster Meridian Twins took on the fourth place Meadow Lake White Sox in Lloydminster.

The members of the Battlefords Scuba Community are enjoying a wet summer, and it's not all because of the down pour of rain. Members have been visiting lakes in the north-west region, getting acquainted with the conditions and seeing the sights.
