Man charged for murder of Oxbow’s Brianna Hayes appears in court

Man charged for second-degree murder makes first court appearance.

REGINA — Taylor Japp, 24, from Oxbow, who was charged with second-degree murder of Brianna Hayes, made his first appearance in Regina Provincial Court on April 29.

It was adjourned to Carlyle on May 1 at 10 a.m.

Japp was taken into custody in Oxbow on April 25, after Hayes' body was located in the RM of Moose Mountain the same day.

Charges against Japp were announced on April 26 and were a result of a continuing investigation, RCMP said.

On April 25, 27-year-old Tyler Shaw from Gainsborough was arrested and charged with accessory after the fact to murder. Shaw appeared before Judge Noah Evanchuk in Regina Provincial Court by phone on April 26. The Crown opposed release, and Shaw has been remanded to his next court date on May 9 in Estevan Provincial Court..
