Collision near Estevan's Walmart results in injuries

Emergency crews were called to a collision near Walmart in Estevan on Tuesday.

ESTEVAN - Emergency crews were dispatched to a two-vehicle collision on Kensington Avenue in Estevan on Tuesday afternoon.

Members of the Estevan Police Service, Estevan Fire Rescue Service and Estevan EMS were called to the incident, which occurred in front of Walmart. According to the EPS, minor injuries were reported and both vehicles were towed from the scene.

The police thanks the public for their patience. Officers directed traffic in order to keep vehicles moving while keeping the scene safe for those involved.

Also on Tuesday, police received a report of a suspicious male at an apartment complex in the Hillside area. Members attended and did not locate the male. Extra patrols were conducted. The matter is still under investigation.

Police are investigating a file regarding uttering threats, criminal harassment and breach of probation. That matter is still under investigation.

Officers received a report of two parties having a dispute over a family law matter. The argument was over custody of their children. The EPS has limited ability to get involved and in this case, had no authority. The parties were referred to their lawyers and court to resolve their dispute.

Police were called to a report of extortion. The victim shared images over the internet and the individual that received the images demanded payment or they would share the pictures to the complainant's contacts. Initially the victim paid a sum of money in Apple cards and then the individual demanded more cash. Police assisted the victim with changing security settings on social media account. The matter is still under investigation.

Police received a report from a homeowner who thought someone might be in their yard. Police attended and checked the property. The caller was updated that there was nobody in their yard.

Members arrested a 38-year-old Estevan man for assault and uttering threats on Jan. 7. He was extremely intoxicated and lodged in cells. The man was released for court in March on conditions of no contact and abstention from alcohol consumption once he was sober enough to understand his release restrictions.
