The Weyburn Iron Pigs won their semi-final series against the Regina Dodgers, by claiming an 8-3 win on Sunday night in Regina, to advance them to the finals for the Qu’Appelle Baseball League against the Regina Trappers.

The first game is on Monday evening in Regina at Currie Field, and game 2 is set for Wednesday, Sept. 22, in Weyburn at Tom Laing Park at 8:30 p.m.

In the deciding game of the best-of-three series with the Dodgers, Weyburn was first on the board in the second inning with two runs, and finished off in a big way with six runs in the eighth inning.

The Dodgers didn’t score any runs until the fifth inning when they had a single run, followed by single runs in the seventh and eighth innings.

Will Morris, the designated hitter, had a hit, a run and two RBIs on the night, with single hits and RBIs from Troy Miller, Mike Onstad, Luke Niemegeers, Eric Schultz and Garett Walbaum.

Eric Evans was on the mound for seven innings, and allowed seven hits and two runs, and recorded eight strike-outs.
