The City of Estevan has been actively monitoring water levels, continuing with cleanup efforts and assessing damages, according to Tuesday's press release from the city.

A state of emergency remains in effect in the Estevan area, thanks to the heavy rains that swamped the city on Sunday. Environment Canada has reported that 73.

The Estevan Fire Rescue Service is urging the public to keep pumps a safe distance from homes. In an interview with the Mercury on Monday morning, Chief Dale Feser said the pumps need to be at least 15 feet from a building.

A state of emergency has been declared in Estevan, after several inches of rain fell on the Energy City on Sunday late afternoon and early evening. The rain started at around 4 p.m.

A violent storm blew through the Estevan area, on its way through southeast Saskatchewan, on July 7. Environment Canada described the storm as Saskatchewan's fifth tornado of the season.
