The Bienfait Coalers collected their fifth championship in five years on March 26 after they defeated the Wawota Flyers 6-2, and broke Wawota’s record for most consecutive championships that they held for 40 years.

Women of Today nominations were unveiled at a ceremony March 25, and in the 17 th year of the event, 19 local women are being recognized for their efforts in the community.

United Way Estevan had a successful year, accomplishing many of the goals they set out for in 2014. During the United Way’s annual general meeting on March 27, outgoing president Doug McDavid said that it was an honour to be the president.

The Estevan junior Roller Derby team, built on team chemistry and learned the mental aspects of the sport during a retreat at Metochos Lutheran Bible Camp on March 27 and 28. Twenty-four girls from ages nine to 16 participated in the retreat.

Two teams from the Estevan Minor Hockey Association’s (EMHA) female division recently won championships, which is a great accomplishment for the organization.

The Estevan Blue Rock junior midget Bruins swept Weyburn in their three-game league championship final on March 28. Estevan defeated Weyburn 7-3 on the road, to become champions. In the opening period, the Bruins were first on the score board.

A man wanting to press charges of uttering threats was advised by members of the Estevan Police Service he should register his complaint with them at the police station before any action could be taken.

The second annual Gun Show at the Wylie-Mitchell Hall featured new vendors for the many hunting and gun enthusiasts attending the event that ran on March 28 and 29.

The St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation announced this past week they have added a part-time position to their team.

Two men were released from prison during a bail hearing in Estevan provincial court on March 30, following their arrest for allegedly trafficking cocaine on March 27.
