Estevan MLA Lori Carr said the budget announced on Tuesday brought a lot of "exciting" news for the Estevan area. The budget, whose theme is to Protect, Build and Grow Saskatchewan, had several expenditures specific to Estevan.

Saskatchewan's public offering of Crown petroleum and natural gas rights, held April 6, generated $1,925,874 in revenue for the province.

The potential of using geothermal power generation was brought up by both the environment minister and leader of the opposition in scrums with reporters following question period on April 7.

Effective at 8 a.m., April 9, Saskatchewan's vaccine booking system eligibility will be expanded to all individuals 55 years of age and older. Eligible residents ages 55+ can book their appointment online at www.saskatchewan.

There are 205 new cases of COVID-19 and 200 recoveries to report in Saskatchewan on April 8, bringing the provincial total to 35,376 cases. There are two new deaths to report today.

Mayor Roy Ludwig announced Thursday that Police Chief Paul Ladouceur has tendered his resignation to pursue other opportunities. The resignation will take effect on April 16. A search for a new chief will be conducted.

Canadian Pacific (CP) Railway has helped kick off the St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation’s Radiothon for Life campaign, with the announcement of a $20,000 matching donation.
