A casting call for November, and an annual general meeting for Crocus 80 Theatre will be held on Thursday, Sept. 18, at the Tommy Douglas Centre at 7 p.m.

Haley Anderson, Brooklyn Arts and Natalie Martin will represent the Weyburn and District United Way as their Communithon Superheroes, for this year's 33-hour fundraiser. The United Way will host the Communithon on Friday and Saturday, Oct.

The Weyburn and District United Way will kick-off their 2014 Communithon on Friday, Sept. 6 with a barbecue at the Memorial Park on Third Street (beside the City Hall). The barbecue will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The Weyburn Review will have Mike Blinder, a media industry leader, coming to educate local businesses during a special free luncheon seminar on Wednesday, Sept. 17.

The works of Pieter van der Breggen and the late Cornelius Kievits called "Weyburn's Dutch Masters" will be shown at the Allie Griffin Art Gallery. There will be a public reception on Sunday, September 7, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

During July and August, the Weyburn Duplicate Bridge Club met once a week on Monday evenings, but starting in September, the club will resume playing on Thursday afternoons at 1 p.m. as well as on Monday evenings at 7 p.m.

The WheatlandSenior Centre holds weekly activities. The following are the results from August 15 to August 21: Friday's Bridge tournament ended with first place going to Linda Kot, with second place to John Whitell, and George Gillies in third place.

The Weyburn Crocus Quilters Guild will hold its first meeting of the fall on Tuesday, September 2 at Grace United Church upper hall. Socializing starts at 6:30 p.m. with the meeting to begin at 7 p.m. All quilters are welcome.
