Summertime doesn't last forever, but before the school bell rings, the Weyburn downtown core will be hosting one last party.

The skies near the Parrish&Heimbecker terminal, formerly Weyburn Inland Terminal, are lit up explosively by lightning from a thunderstorm that rolled through the Weyburn region on Aug. 1.

Thursday The 2014 Wheat Festival will be held at several venues over Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Check below for more details. The entry deadline for the bread baking contest at the Soo Line Historical Museum is today, at 5 p.m.

Registration is still open for Weyburn's Opportunity Road Race, which will be held on Sunday, August 17. Proceeds from the Opportunity Road Race will be donated back into the community.

The 2014 Wheat Festival will celebrate the birth of acclaimed writer W.O Mitchell 100 years ago in Weyburn with the Crocus 80 Theatre presentation of "Jake and the Kid - Prairie Seasons'. The Crocus 80 Theatre presentation will take place at the T.C.

Canada Day celebrations end with a firework display at the Weyburn exhibition grounds on July 1, which was hosted by the City of Weyburn. Earlier in the day, Canada Day celebrations were held at the Weyburn Leisure Centre.
