Students will rise to the challenge

Challenge Day is coming back to the Estevan Comprehensive School, and that means the new crop of freshmen will continue what will be a tradition of going through the program that encourages students to see what life is like for their peers.

A local man was recently recognized in Ottawa after saving the life of his 10-year-old daughter. Darcy Gunnlaughson found himself in a situation last year no parent ever wants to be in.

Weyburn police investigate thefts, mischief and assault

The Weyburn Police Service attended to 91 calls during the week of Oct. 7-13. A staff member from a local hotel contacted Weyburn Police Service to report property stolen from one of the hotel rooms; the matter is still under investigation.

Impaired driving charge laid

A domestic disturbance on the night of Oct. 15 led members of the Estevan Police Service (EPS) to a residence on the south side of the city. The two people involved in the disturbance were spoken to and no further police action was required.

KISS tribute at Halloween Bash, Oct. 27

The Weyburn Young Fellows will host a Halloween Bash on Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Weyburn Royal Canadian Legion. A tribute to KISS will highlight the evening. Doors open at 8 p.m. There are only 250 tickets available, and cost $30 per person.

Gala dinner for Museum on Oct. 19

A gala dinner will be hosted by the Soo Line Historical Museum on Friday, Oct. 19, in the upstairs of the Weyburn Royal Canadian Legion Hall. This is the third annual gala dinner for the museum.
