The Estevan Wolves peewee hockey team has moved on to the final of the South East Minor Hockey League playoffs. After sweeping the Weyburn Red Wings in the first round, the Wolves faced the Estevan Thunder in the semifinals.

Several members of the Moose Mountain Elks Lodge in Kisbey were in Esterhazy from March 8-10 for the provincial Elks darts tournament. In the men’s singles event, John Voutour of Kisbey took second spot, and Kalvin Nankevill was fourth.

The Weyburn Comprehensive School’s Team Haupstein, the girls’ curling rink, won gold at the SHSAA girls provincial curling championships held in Nipawin over the weekend.

The Estevan Comprehensive School (ECS) Elecs junior girls basketball team won the district championship. Estevan opened the district tournament by playing the Stoughton Bulldogs on March 5, and beat them 51-41.

The Estevan Apex midget AA Bruins season came to an end on Friday night in a 6-1 loss to the Swift Current Broncos at Affinity Place. Swift Current swept the best-of-five series in three straight games.

The Power Dodge Estevan Bruins showed their skating, shooting and puckhandling skills for their fans during the team’s inaugural skills competition on Saturday afternoon at Affinity Place.
