The Carlyle midget A Wildcats opened their playoffs with a 5-3 upset victory over the Prairie Storm Thunder in Balgonie on Feb. 11 in Game 1 of their best-of-three series.

The Estevan Apex midget AA Bruins wrapped up their regular season by winning three straight road games. Estevan routed the Regina Vics 7-1 on Feb. 8 and the Moose Jaw Warriors 12-0 on Feb. 9, and then defeated the Regina Rangers 3-1 on Feb.

Sask Squash will be hosting a learn to play clinic in Estevan on Feb. 16 at the squash courts inside the Estevan Leisure Centre. There will be hourly sessions from 2-5 p.m. To sign up, participants can call the front desk of the leisure centre.

Five members of the Estevan Sharks water polo program are currently developing their skills in Croatia at a water polo camp. Josie Andrist, Alex Andrist, Cameron Gillingham, Mikayla Hack and Taeghen Hack were selected to be part of the Team Sask.

The Weyburn Red Wings hosted the Flin Flon Bombers on Wednesday night. This was the first time the two teams had met in Weyburn since the beginning of the season when the two teams broke out in a brawl at the end of the game.

The Comp Eagles senior boys team, and the senior girls at left, celebrated with the trophy for winning the historic McLeod Series on Wednesday night at the Estevan Comp.

The Weyburn Comprehensive School Eagles won a pair of close games in Estevan on Wednesday night to win the McLeod Series against the Estevan Comprehensive School Elecs for the second straight year.

The Weyburn Comprehensive School Eagles have taken the lead in the McLeod Series. Weyburn’s senior girls basketball team defeated the Estevan Comprehensive School Elecs 67-59 Wednesday evening at the ECS gymnasium.

This past weekend the Estevan Sharks water polo club sent eight teams to the league finals in Regina. They returned with four medals, including two gold and two silver.

By Laura Kish Oxbow Huskies travelled to KW Oil Kings in Game 1 of a two-game total point series on Wednesday, Feb. 6. This night was also the inaugural Oil Kings salute to the local officials.
