Steve Laycock’s rink defeated Brock Virtue 7-3 Sunday morning to qualify for the 2018 SaskTel Tankard final at Affinity Place this afternoon. The final goes at 2:30 p.m. with the winner qualifying for next months’ Tim Hortons Brier in Regina.

Both games ended early in the first round of the playoffs at the SaskTel Tankard at Affinity Place Friday night.

Friday’s playoff matches at the 2018 SaskTel Tankard were set after Saturday afternoon’s draws between C event finalists. Colton Flasch will play Brock Virtue in the 1-2 Page Playoff battle, with the winner getting a bye into Sunday’s 2:30 p.m.

Brent Gedak’s 2018 SaskTel Tankard is over, having lost Saturday morning 9-7 to Scott Bitz.

The McLeod Series is looked at by local sports people as the ultimate championship to win and one of the best atmospheres in any school sports events across the area.

Brent Gedak’s team simply couldn’t have curled much better than they did in their Friday night win over Jason Jacobson’s team at the 2018 SaskTel Tankard at Affinity Place. Gedak won 7-3 over Jacobson in a must win game for them both.

Brock Virtue's vitory over Jason Jacobson has caused a ripple effect in the plans of Brent Gedak's rink. Virtue won 6-4 over Jacobson, with the winner to move on in the B side and the non-winner Jacobson playing Gedak tonight at 8 p.m.

Brent Gedak will play at least one more match at the SaskTel Tankard at home. Gedak defeated Randy Bryden 6-4 to move to Friday night's match between the winner of Brock Virtue and Jason Jacobson in the 4 p.m. Friday draw.

It took 11 ends, but Jason Jacobson finally defeated Josh Heidt’s rink in the Friday morning draw #6 at the SaskTel Tankard at Affinity Place.
