There are 64 rocks nearly in play as the 2018 SaskTel Tankard has officially rolled in to Estevan.

Oh, those troublesome Yorkton Terriers. Wednesday, for the fourth time this season, the Viterra Division’s last place Terriers defeated the Power Dodge Estevan Bruins.

It’s been a good season for Estevan Minor Hockey product Cole Fonstad and it’s about to hit the roof.

There will be 16 rinks in Estevan for the SaskTel Tankard this week, but only one of them will be able to fly the province’s colours at the Tim Hortons Brier in Regina next month. The draws start Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

The breadth and scope of the Estevan Strippers annual senior hockey tournament will change slightly due to the decommissioning of the Civic Auditorium. While they're still going to have 40 teams in the event this year.

Weyburn Minor Football will hold a fundraiser event with a Super Bowl party on Sunday, Feb. 4, at the Weyburn Legion Hall.

Carlyle Minor Hockey Day has been an ongoing celebration of the sport in the community for many years. This year neighbouring towns participating in the competitive, yet very fun atmosphere included Arcola, Redvers, and Carnduff.

The opening matches for the first two draws of the 2018 SaskTel Tankard at Affinity Place were announced this morning by Curling Saskatchewan. The opening draw Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.

Saskatchewan’s table tennis scene was on full display last weekend at the Estevan Comprehensive School’s gym.

It was a quiet week in the Big Six Hockey League, so there wasn’t a lot of movement in the standings. The Carnduff Red Devils stayed on top with a 9-1 win over the Wawota Flyers Sunday and a 7-3 victory over Yellow Grass Wheat Kings on Saturday.
