The Estevan Power Tech Bear Cats won two of three road games they played last weekend.

Brent Gedak’s opponent in Thursday night’s draw made quick work of his Thursday afternoon opponent at Draw 4 of the SaskTel Tankard. Ryan Deis defeated Aaron Shutra 12-2 in five ends to claim victory in the Thursday afternoon draws at Affinity Place.

The Assiniboia Senior Rebels officially captured first place in the Notekeu Hockey League regular season with a 6-3 victory over the Gravelbourg Hornets on January 26. The Rebels completed the season with a record of 14 wins and four losses.

Winners in the Weyburn Minor Hockey raffle gathered to receive their prizes on Monday.

Brady Kendel’s slow, deliberate pace helped earn him a victory over Estevan’s Brent Gedak Thursday morning at the SaskTek Tankard. Kendel’s team used both of their timeouts on successive shots by their third in the fifth end.

A men’s curling team with local connections is competing at the SaskTel Tankard being hosted in Estevan: Jan. 31 – Feb. 4. Andrea McEwen of Carlyle is coaching Team Stewart, which is skipped by Brayden Stewart of Maryfield.

The Saskatchewan Winter Games are just a few weeks away, and athletes from Estevan and area have already earned their spots on some of the Team Southeast squads. The games are Feb.
