Sunday win over Kindersley secures playoff spot

The Estevan Bruins had plenty of motivation tonight, and they put it to good use. The Bruins scored four times in the first period and defeated the Kindersley Klippers 6-3 to clinch a playoff spot.

In conjunction with Skate Canada, the Weyburn Skating Club will host the Saskatchewan Stars on Ice show on March 6 at Crescent Point Place. The Saskatchewan High Performance Figure Skating Team will be performing in the ice show.

The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League is pleased to announce a group of citizens from Warman, Saskatchewan have expressed interest in obtaining a new franchise in the SJHL. If approved the new team would start play in the 2014-15 season.

The past week has been action-filled with hockey nights for the Novice Cougar Team coached by Jeff Humphries and Larry Rae. The kids have been working hard and playing hard. On Monday, February 4th, the 8 and under team played Arcola.

For the second straight year, the Bienfait Coalers have finished in first place in the Big Six Hockey League.

Talented bantam-age hockey players from all over southeast Saskatchewan came to Estevan on the weekend to show off their game. Spectra Place was the host venue for the Zone 1 selection camp for the annual Sask First tournament.

The Estevan Comprehensive School senior basketball teams have a virtually insurmountable climb in front of them in the 78th annual McLeod Series.

After playing some of their best hockey of the season in recent weeks, two games in Kindersley brought the CanElson Drilling Estevan Bruins back to earth with a resounding thud.
