Do you ever sit down and watch a movie or television show from when you were younger? Are they just as good now as they were then? One movie that I had kind of forgotten about was The Sandlot.

We shouldn’t be encouraged that 39 people died in impaired driving-related collisions in Saskatchewan last year. After all, that represents 39 people whose lives ended prematurely and unnecessarily.

The editor: Brian Zinchuk, like many others in our great province of Saskatchewan, seemingly has a deep-seeded animosity towards the west coast.

I’m finding it more and more difficult to listen to or watch most news broadcasts these days, because it seems that terrorism, brutality and injustice (to name a few) dominate our world.

There are few sporting events in Canada bigger than the Memorial Cup. The national major junior hockey championship brings together four of the best teams in the country for a nine-day competition.

Cheers to the arrival of a new doctor in Estevan. Now we just need a few more to come to the community (while not losing any). Cheers to the TS&M Woodlawn Golf Club for bringing the Maple Leaf Junior Tour to Estevan.

Nobody in southeast Saskatchewan, or this province in general, should ever downplay the importance of mining. We’re blessed in this province to have an abundance of coal, potash, uranium and other minerals. And most people in Saskatchewan know it.

With the May long weekend over, we are now in “summer mode” for traveling, camping and everything else that goes with summertime in Canada, including driving on our highways for summer vacation or to visit family and friends.
