*bang bang* “Southeast!” *bang bang* “Southeast!” *bang bang* “Southeast!” The gym echoed as a large crowd amassed to cheer on the volleyball teams at the Sask Summer Games.

The sports and recreation facilities for local residents to enjoy received frequent praise during the recent Estevan 2016 Saskatchewan Summer Games. Many of our venues were in excellent condition before the Games arrived.

After all the excitement with the Summer Games we just had circulating through the city, it’s understandable if news about the upcoming Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, makes you feel a little fatigued.

I’m self admittedly a bit of a podcast junkie. I generally listen to podcasts every day. You must be thinking that I have a lot of extra time on my hands. I assure you, I do not.

Cheers: Cheers to the athletes, parents, volunteers, organizers, sponsors and officials for putting on an outstanding Saskatchewan Summer Games. There was a lot of positive energy at the Games.

There is something to be said for tradition and history, and for the legacy left to us by all those generations who went before us, laying the foundation of the society and community we enjoy today.

The Editor: Hats off to the City of Estevan, all its employees and the volunteers who made the Summer Games a whopping success. I hear nothing but good comments on how clean the city was and how nice all the facilities were. Congratulations to all.
