Onam is the annual harvest festival of Kerala, India, and is celebrated for 10 days. According to the Gregorian calendar, the festival falls in the months of August-September.

An online version of Culture Days will be offered in Weyburn this year, due to the restrictions imposed for the COVID-19 pandemic.

The fundraising Weyburn Credit Union “Swing for Scholarships” golf event will be held on Friday, Sept. 11 to assist students attending Southeast College. The golf event will feature staggered tee times to allow safe distancing between the teams.

Warm, dry weather has helped southeast area farmers to make progress in harvest operations, with 21 per cent of the crops in the bins in the Weyburn region, and 25 per cent of the crops in the Lake Alma-Radville-Minton area.

The Weyburn Police Service experienced a busy week, responding to 99 calls for service during the period of August 24 to 30.

There are three new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on September 1, bringing the total to 1,622 reported cases. The new cases are located in the North Central (1) and Saskatoon (1) zones. The location of the third case is pending.

A former Weyburn city councillor and businessman, Nick Coroluick, is letting his name stand for the position of mayor in this fall’s municipal election.
