Weyburn Review

The Weyburn, Lomond and Brokenshell 4-H Beef Clubs held their achievement days on Saturday, with Radville and Cymri holding theirs on Sunday, plus the 4-H Light Horse Show was held on Sunday. All of these were in preparation for the Regional 4-H Show which starts Monday and runs until Wednesday, July 3 at the Weyburn Fair.

A large group of past winners of the Edgar May Trophy for the Cymri 4-H Beef Club gathered together in Weyburn to meet the name-sake of the trophy for the first time.

There was a wide variety of children's games and activities, from tattoos to bouncy houses, along with a concert by Weyburn's own Brayden King and his band, at the Weyburn Credit Union's community barbecue on Thursday evening at Weyburn Exhibition Hall. King entertained for two sets, taking a break for the presentation of community grants to 11 organizations.

Eleven community organizations in the Weyburn area received a total of $68,000 in community grants from the Weyburn Credit Union on Thursday.

Current and past members of the Weyburn Youth Council met at the future site for the Weyburn Spark Cinema, to present a donation for the first Star on the Walk of Fame.

Emissions from reported venting and flaring at upstream oil facilities in 2023 were 3.6 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent, which is a 67 per cent reduction from 2015 levels and a six per cent decline from 2022.

The City of Weyburn Youth Council will announce its donation to the Weyburn Theatre Community Service Cooperative's "Prairie Sky Co-op Walk of Fame" on June 27.

Weyburn area 4-H clubs will be wrapping up their year at the Weyburn exhibition grounds, starting on Saturday and Sunday, June 29 and 30.

The Weyburn Beavers hosted the Brooks Bombers for a pair of weekend games, before starting their Alberta road trip in Edmonton on Tuesday night.

The Weyburn Comp's Junior Achievement companies and students won a total of eight awards from the 2024 Junior Achievement Provincial Awards.
