Rural and urban municipalities, towns, villages and First Nations communities claiming assistance for losses from natural disasters through the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program (PDAP) can receive an advance payment of 60 per cent of their total

Employers and minimum wage earners are reminded that Saskatchewan's minimum wage is going up effective September 1, 2011. The Government of Saskatchewan will increase the province's minimum wage from $9.25 to $9.

Local headstart program greenlighted

Yorkton Council unanimously supported the Headstart on a Home Policy to provide $5,000 per door to qualified homebuyers for new entry level single-family homes created through the Headstart on a Home program to be repaid from taxes on an annual basis

Local petition gains momentum

The "Jimmy's Law" petition that originated in Yorkton has passed 4,000 signatures province-wide and gained the backing of some powerful lobby groups.

Meritorious award nominees

The City of Yorkton will submit four names to receive Meritorious Service Awards from the Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association (SUMA) this year. The SUMA Awards Banquet will be held in January of 2012 in Regina.
