Yorkton Minor Hockey players had a unique type of training last week. The training took players, parents and coaches away from the ice and had them focus on the world of social media.

The late Octaaf Laevens, whose name was synonymous with the Kamsack Royals fastball team for over 40 years, has a smile from ear to ear. Last year his grandson Kobe, son of Cam and Marci Laevens of Spruce Grove, Alta.

Skate Yorkton is proud to announce that they have two provincial champions. From Nov. 10-12, ten Skate Yorkton athletes competed at the 2018 Skate Canada Saskatchewan Championships in Weyburn.

The Yorkton RawTec Maulers had two games in Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League action last weekend, as they hosted the Saskatoon Contacts on Saturday and Sunday.

It was a week of ups and downs for the Yorkton Terriers that saw them beat the top team in the league, and then lose a pair of games against the Melville Millionaires.

The Sturgis Composite School senior boys volleyball team exceeded its dreams when the team won second place at regional play in Tisdale on November 17 and 18. Sturgis will advance to provincials that will be held in Humboldt on November 24 and 25.

The Canora Composite School (CCS) senior boys volleyball team took part in the conference playoffs in Langenburg on November 11.

More home action this Friday night

Last weekend, the Sacred Heart High School senior girls volleyball team hosted the 4A high school provincial championships at Sacred Heart and St. Michael’s school in Yorkton.

Just a week after hosting and winning its own tournament at Canora Composite School (CCS), the Canora Cougars senior girls volleyball team saw its season come to an abrupt and unexpected conclusion on the team’s home court.
