Just a week after hosting and winning its own tournament at Canora Composite School (CCS), the Canora Cougars senior girls volleyball team saw its season come to an abrupt and unexpected conclusion on the team’s home court.

Last week, the Yorkton Terriers Junior A Hockey Club made the announcement that the new head coach/GM of the team would be Mat Hehr.

Matthew Mandziuk, a grade 12 receiver/safety for the Yorkton Regional High School Raiders football team, has broken the Moose Jaw High School Football League receiving record.

If there’s any colour that stands out at the Farrell Agencies Arena on a hockey night, it’s orange. But on Saturday night, pink overpowered the orange as the Yorkton RawTec Maulers hosted their third annual Paint the Rink Pink fundraiser game.

This weekend, the Yorkton RawTec Maulers midget AAA team will suit up in pink for their annual Paint the Rink Pink breast cancer fundraiser.

The Yorkton RawTec Maulers had another weekend of hockey games on the road. Playing against the Beardy’s Blackhawks on Saturday, and the Saskatoon Blazers on Sunday, the Maulers came away with three of four possible points.

The Yorkton Terriers were on the losing side of their two games against the Humboldt Broncos last weekend. The action started in Humboldt on Friday night. It was the tougher of the two matches for the Terriers, who lost 10-2.

The two-month junior girls volleyball season ended for the Kamsack Comprehensive Institute team on October 25 at the conference competition in Sturgis. The KCI Spartans was one of five teams entered in Sturgis.

The Yorkton Regional High School Raiders football team was just one play short of the provincial championship last weekend. The Raiders faced the North Battleford Comprehensive High School Vikings football team for the 3A provincial title.
