The Preeceville Pats Midget hockey team took to the ice in its first home game of the regular season with a 5-4 win over Yorkton Remax midgets on November 1. Preeceville struck first early in the first period to take a 1-0 lead.

The Canora Cougars senior girls volleyball team celebrated on its home court after winning the final match in the Canora Composite School (CCS) tournament held on October 27-28.

The Yorkton Regional High School boys volleyball team hosted its senior volleyball tournament last weekend. The YRHS team finished with a 2-2 record in the round robin. In the quarterfinal, they beat Rouleau 2-0, which pushed them into the semifinal.

Part of this year’s Yorkton Exhibition Harvest Showdown was the Heartland Livestock Ranch Rodeo. The Ranch Rodeo consisted of teams of four competing against each other in a series of events.

Curlers got a chance to work on their stances and improve their delivery methods at the Gallagher Centre on Nov. 5 as part of a new program. They were participating in an adult curling instructions course.

The Preeceville and Sturgis junior boys volleyball teams co-hosted the East Central District Athletic Association playoffs in both Preeceville and Sturgis on October 28 with eight teams participating.

The Yorkton RawTec Maulers were back in action over the weekend after a long two-week break in their Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League action.

As the cold temperatures and icy conditions of winter quickly blanket Saskatchewan, people are flocking inside to get their fix of physical activity.

The Yorkton Exhibition Harvest Showdown was held last weekend at the Gallagher Centre in Yorkton. As always, the two-day Yorkton New Holland Rodeo event was a huge draw for crowds.

The 2017/18 Canora Novice Cobras are looking forward to representing Canora in their new black jerseys this season.
