Last Thursday, Canadian Wrestling Elite (CWE) returned to Yorkton with an event that had the crowd cheering all night. Held at Yorkdale Central School, the event (Nightmare on Elite Street) drew in one of the biggest crowds yet.

The Yorkton Terriers are hosting their annual golf tournament on Thursday, August 31 at Deer Park Golf Course in Yorkton. The tournament, which will be a modified version of a Texas Scramble, will have a shotgun start at 12:00 p.m.

The third annual Sandy Beach Disc Golf Tournament was held Saturday under near ideal conditions. The great conditions led to some fantastic shot making and a very close competition among the more than 40 participants.

For the first time in history, this year’s Team Saskatchewan captured a gold medal in baseball at the Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg. On Friday, Saskatchewan beat Manitoba 3-1 for the title.

It was a hot, actually a very hot, more accurately a scorcher of a day as disc golf took to the Links Under the Spruce course Sunday.

The J-Mack Painting Yorkton United FC Storm under 11 boys soccer team took part in the prestigious Schwan’s USA Cup International Soccer tournament in Blaine Minnesota from July 18 to July 22.

Clarke Breitkreuz and his older brother, Brett, never got the opportunity to play hockey together while they were growing up because of the two-year age gap between them. Brett was always aging out of a division just as Clarke was getting to it.

Over the weekend, the Willowbrook Wildlife Federation held its annual 3D Archery Shoot.

The Yorkton Cardinals wrapped up their 2017 season on Sunday night as they visited the Weyburn Beavers for their last game. The Beavers took the win 12-2.

Youngsters are learning how to play the game of baseball thanks to the Boys and Girls Club of Yorkton and Jays Cares Rookie League.
