Golfers can still reserve their spots in Parkland College’s upcoming Dollars for Scholars Golf Classic. The 11th annual scholarship fundraising event takes place Friday, June 24 at Deer Park Golf Course in Yorkton.

The Yorkton Cardinals went 2-2 on the week and slipped to third in the Western Major Baseball League’s Eastern Division. Swift Current tops the Division with Regina two games back, and the Cardinals three games off-the-pace.

It was a mixed week for the Yorkton Yankees, the defending SESBL champions losing a high scoring contest in Canora against the Supers, before coming back against the Willowbrook Royals.

Jordan Innes and Garrett Bazuik of the Sturgis Composite High School brought home silver medals from the junior badminton districts which were hosted in Yorkton on May 3.

Children in the Sturgis area have welcomed the opportunity to play ball once again in the community. It has been over six years since the ball diamonds have been utilized at the sportsgrounds.

The spotlight will be on the 77 youngsters who play with the Canora Minor Ball association on Sunday.

Only two weeks remain in the 2016 soccer season in Canora.

After starting the season with a couple of disappointing losses, the Canora Supers baseball team has managed to rally back with five consecutive victories, with the most recent coming at the hands of the Russell Bulls, Swan River Reds and Willowbrook

The first event in the 2016 Parkland Association of Disc Golf Tournament series is in the books. The Vibram Birdie Bash was held in Springside Sunday, with 23 participants entered.
