The Yorkton Regional High School played host to a nine year CFL veteran Thursday afternoon as current CFL free agent safety and Grey Cup champion J.R. LaRose, who has spent time in the CFL with both the Edmonton Eskimos and B.C.

Spring has arrived in Yorkton and with that comes something that many youth in the city have been waiting for since the autumn of 2014.

A very special guest delivered a very important message to students at Yorkton’s Dr. Brass School last Wednesday, April 22.

Two professional wrestlers that had once called Yorkton their home returned to the city last Wednesday, April 22, with the hopes of picking up big W’s over a pair of talented wrestlers.

The Yorkton Storm Swim Club (YSSC) sent 15 swimmers to Saskatoon this past weekend where they competed in the Saskatoon Lasers Septathlon event at the Shaw Centre. This was the first Long Course swim meet of the season.

The Sacred Heart senior badminton team travelled to Melville on Saturday, April 25 to participate in districts. Finishing second in their pool in mixed doubles moving on to semi-finals were Lauren Maier and Caleb Sutter.

The Yorkton Taekwondo Association and Kee’s Taekwondo are hosting the 17th annual Prairie Wildfire Taekwondo Challenge on Saturday, May 2 at the Gallagher Centre Flexihall.

It was a successful return to Yorkton from Honolulu, Hawaii, for the YRHS Raider and Yorkton Gridder cheer teams as both cheer squads brought home medals from the two day Aloha International Spirit Competition held at the Hawaii Convention Center in

Disc golf is coming to Springside. At least that’s the plan if there is a little financial support from area players and local community supports.

The second annual Yorkton Senior Men’s Basketball Tournament was held this past weekend at Sacred Heart’s Halo Dome with a total of eight teams combining to play 12 games over the two day event.
