The first atom football game played in Yorkton took place Saturday morning at Century Field. The newly-formed atom Gridders were the home team and the Regina Lions, who haven't been around for a long time either, were the opponents.

In preparation for the start of the new season, the Yorkton AAA Midget Harvest have made some player signings. They are also losing at least three players to different teams, said Jeff Odgers, Harvest head coach.

The schedule for the Yorkton Regional High School Raider Gridder senior football team was released recently. The Gridders open up their 2011 season with a game at home against the Miller Marauders on Friday, Sept. 2 at 5 p.m.
