The Government of Saskatchewan wishes all the athletes and the City of Meadow Lake well at the 2012 Saskatchewan Summer Games. The Games run from July 29-Aug. 4. This year marks the 40th Anniversary of the Games.

The Yorkton United U16 girls' soccer team are provincial champions. They won the prestigious title July 20-22 in Regina. Going into this provincial championships, the team was on a 32-unbeaten streak.

The South East Senior Baseball League is getting close to determining a new champion. Following the elimination of the Cardinals at Jubilee Park several weeks back, the title is officially up for grabs.

Anyone in the Yorkton area who is interested in participating in a senior men's football league in the fall is asked to please contact Darcy Zaharia. Players must be 18 years of age or old and be able to play from late August to October.

The Saskatchewan Men's Amateur Golf Championships were held last week at Deer Park. There were several locals vying for a spot on the national team. Monday and Tuesday morning saw golfers face some of the worst weather for the tournament.

The Yorkton Cardinals hosted the Pee Wee "A" Provincial Championship in baseball from July 20 to 22. Six different teams came from across the province for the tournament. The Cardinals lost 4-9 in their first game against the Kindersley Royals.

I must say I was excited to see the Sasquatch online. The disc is a maximum distance drive from Daredevil Discs, a company I love to promote because it's Canadian, and love to throw because generally the company makes killer discs.

The Yorkton Cardinals dominance as South East Senior Baseball League came to an end last week. The reigning three-year SESBL champions have been officially dethroned.

You probably really had to see it as it happened that night to believe it. Things like this don't happen every day. Especially not in Yorkton.

The Yorkton Cardinals may be 4-6 over their last 10 Western Major Baseball League, but with only three games left in the season will miss the playoffs for a third straight season.
