The Yorkton E and S Yankees increased their winning streak to four games as they defeated the tough Willowbrook Royals 4-2 at Jubilee Park Wednesday June 8.

Despite the bottom half of the course not quite playable as of yet, the York Lake Golf and Country Club has a few things to look forward to this summer. One of them is the good weather that came around Yorkton and area for most of Friday.

The Yorkton Cardinals have struggled out of the gate in the Western Major Baseball League, having won only two games in eight outings. The resulting .250 winning percentage have the Cardinals mired in the basement of the league's East Division 5.

A Regina-based group known as the Cavaliers Sports and Social Club came to the Gallagher Centre Flexihall to give a handful of locals, including a couple of sports reporters a crash course in the sport of cricket.

The June Female Athlete of the Month is another multi-sport athlete here at Sacred Heart. She has been on the soccer team, junior girl's basketball team and the track and field team. Her coaches describe her as tenacious and dedicated.

SMX Racing is pleased to announce theta Yamalube has joined them for the 2011 CMRC Canadian National race season and will be known as Team Yamalube Schrader's SMX Racing.

It wasn't a bad day for some horseshoe throwing Saturday morning at the park on First Avenue. The Yorkton Horseshoe Club held its annual sanctioned tournament June 4 on the Old Drake School Grounds. The day included both singles and doubles.

Come out and meet former resident and disc golf course designer Joe Hunt, a renowned disc golf player. Learn about the sport and play a round at Yorkton's Patrick Park, Yorkton's newest disc golf course. The clinic is Saturday morning from 10 a.m.

Kade Johnson appears to be developing quite nicely into one of the best teenage golf players on this side of Regina. He's got the skills, and he's got the intelligence to go along with it. He's got a few plaques too.

Yorkton's Denaye Giroux was out west this past weekend, completing the opening round of the western women's Canadian National Series held in Kamloops, British Columbia. She said the weather was hot and humid and the temperature reached plus-28.
