Yorkton This Week

The Government of Saskatchewan has accepted the recommendations of the 2011 Provincial Court Commission regarding salary increases and benefits for Provincial Court judges.

The Saskatchewan Volleyball Association hosted its first set of age-group tournament for the 2012 indoor season this past weekend with game dates in both Yorkton and Saskatoon. These tournaments kicked off the season which runs from January to May.

Corporal Chris Lohnes is a dog handler with the RCMP based out of the Yorkton rural detachment. In addition to working with partner Musqua on cases throughout the region, he is also helping develop younger dogs and prospective handlers for the force.

As the new president of the Yorkton Chamber of Commerce Ron Irvine said he wants to focus on some strategic goals the organization has set for 2012. Irvine said through a recent strategic planning session four goals were laid out for the year ahead.

Heart Month was officially declared for February by Yorkton Council at its regular meeting Monday.
