Dear Editor: In response to the editorial in the July 7 edition of Yorkton This Week I would like to verify a few facts.The flour mill is "brick" not stone. It is built on a stone foundation.

The 2009-10 Public Accounts show Saskatchewan's financial picture is improving, ending the year with a solid final quarter.Saskatchewan saw an improvement of $253.3 million since the Third Quarter Financial Report released in early March.

The Saskatchewan entry in the 2010 National Team Challenge Cup (NTCC) took the July 3-4 weekend off hardcourt training in favour of beach competition outside of Yorkton.

Canada Day 2010 was a day we will never forget.

Saskatchewan is experiencing an increase in the number of cases of whooping cough. During the last 3 years, there have been 5 deaths due to whooping cough in infants less than one year of age.

Remember when Shaq joined Kobe in LA some time ago? The hype that surrounded that acquisition was just nuts. Now, the Miami Heat have gone and done their best to outdo the Lakers and my God, it looks like they've done it.

The Yorkton Speed Swim Club wrapped up their season with a competition in Moose Jaw recently. The club competed at the 44th Annual Summerfest Invitational Meet at the Phyllis Dewar Outdoor Pool.

The Salvation Army has lost a place to hold services as a result of the flooding which hit Yorkton July 1, but the focus is on helping others before the church.

Stephen Onda of Sundog Developments appeared before the regular meeting of Council Monday to request permission to convert 14 Allan Bay in the city to condominiums.

Twelve days after heavy rains flooded homes and business in Yorkton the city remains under a State-of-Emergency. Yorkton Mayor James Wilson said the water has subsided but there are still concerns to be dealt with.
