The Battlefords Sharks had a big weekend, taking two at home versus the Weyburn Gold Wings in female midget AAA action. The Sharks took the opening game Saturday by a 6-2 score, building a 3-0 lead on three goals in a row from Kiana McNinch.

The Battlefords AAA Stars were back in the win column as they blanked the Notre Dame Argos on Saturday by 4-0 and 5-0 scores at the Civic Centre. The Stars thoroughly dominated the first game Saturday, firing 44 shots at the Argos net.

The Saskatchewan Prairie Hockey League was back in action for three games on Thursday through Saturday this weekend.

On Nov. 30, at approximately 10:55 a.m., Pelican Narrows RCMP responded to the report of a house fire on Morin Road in Pelican Narrows. The house was fully engulfed in flames when officers arrived on scene.

In the early morning hours of Dec. 2, Turtleford RCMP was advised of a break and enter in the Turtle Lake area. A .22 cal rifle was taken from the residence. A white SUV involved in the incident was occupied by four or five First Nations males.

The draft 2020 budget for North Battleford has been posted on the city’s website, and it looks like a small tax increase is in store for city taxpayers. The budget is proposing an increase of two per cent for both property taxes and utilities.

It was a tough schedule of three games in three nights for the Battlefords North Stars, but they still came away on the plus side of the win ledger after a 2-1 win over the Weyburn Red Wings on the road Friday.

On Nov. 28, at approximately 6 p.m., Leader RCMP officers, along with Eatonia and Leader EMS and Fire Department, responded to a serious motor-vehicle collision involving a car and a semi on Highway 21, approximately 15 kilometres south of Eatonia.
