With the Battlefords North Stars continuing their winning ways, some more honours have been bestowed on the team. The North Stars have climbed the latest CJHL national rankings up to third in the country.

The Battlefords Stars picked up a strong “W” on the road against the Notre Dame Hounds in midget AAA hockey action Oct. 19. The Stars beat the Hounds 5-2 at Duncan McNeill Arena, for their third win of the season against five defeats.

The Battlefords Sharks dropped two to the Regina Rebels in female midget AAA action at Battleford Arena over the weekend. The two losses, by 9-1 on Saturday and 2-0 Sunday, dropped the Sharks to third place in the league with a 3-4 record.

Battleford is still a safe community. That was the message from Staff Sgt. Darcy Woolfitt of Battlefords RCMP detachment in the wake of the homicide incident on 26th Street in Battleford last week.

RCMP Major Crime Unit North as well as other specialized RCMP units continue to investigate the homicide of 27-year-old Ryan John Gatzke that occurred on Oct. 18, 2019. At this time, police believe three individuals are involved in Gatzke’s murder.

The Carlyle RCMP are currently at a two-vehicle collision involving a fatality and a second subject with unknown injuries. The collision is approximately two km east of Kisbey on Highway 13.
