The provincial minister of corrections and policing will be coming to North Battleford in October. The Battlefords Chamber of Commerce said Tuesday at their monthly meeting that Christine Tell will be the guest speaker at a luncheon event Oct. 6.

Weekend visitors at the home of Phil and Lorna Bater were Phil's brother Gerald Bater, wife Agnes and their daughter Bobby Bater of Abbotsford, B.C. Phil's sister Gwenda Rondesvedt of North Battleford also visited.

Here is a rundown of activity from the Battleford town council meeting of Sept. 15. The main item on the agenda that evening was passage of a bylaw for the town to enter an agreement with SaskEnergy Inc.

The Borden Friendship Club held their first business meeting after the summer break, Sept. 10. After O Canada, there was a one-minute silence for departed member Gerald Bergman. The club is changing the date of their potluck supper to Oct.

Last week's headline stated that the school's enrolment increased this year. This is not accurate. Enrolment declined from last year. New students often move in during the year, so it may increase as the year progresses.

The Saskatoon Blazers scored four straight goals en route to a 5-3 win over the Battlefords AAA Stars at the Civic Centre Wednesday night in SMAAAHL pre-season action. It was the Stars' first loss of their exhibition schedule.

The recently established ARC Creative Studios will be holding an opening night and fundraiser at 1106-101st St.,North Battleford Saturday, Sept. 20. The theme for the evening is Spark the ARC, an event to celebrate and kick start the ARC.

The Battlefords Chamber of Commerce is considering playing an active role in bringing back the North Battleford downtown core. Their idea is what the Chamber calls the "downtown project.
