Dear Editor My name is Jay Staples and I live in Edam. My next door neighbour rang my doorbell recently. She had Regional Optimist in her hand and said she wanted to let me know about an article in it.

Shaun Pete, 39, of the Richard area died Monday after an SUV hit a pedestrian on Highway 40. Blaine Lake RCMP were called to the scene 30 kilometres east of Hafford at about 11:50 p.m. Pete was pronounced dead at the scene.
