Kendall Fransoo picked an opportunistic time to score his first career SJHL playoff goal.

It looks like spring has arrived, at least for a while. The students have been enjoying the weather and really like being able to play outside again. It has been a busy week at the school.

Battlefords RCMP responded to more than 20 calls for service/occurrences between 6 a.m. Tuesday, March 19 and 6 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, including three false alarms. Two false/nuisance 911 calls were also fielded. Tuesday 7:33 a.m.

Ed, my neighbour next door, has been bombarded with too many choices lately. He is planning for his coming seeding time.

There were 16 calls for service/occurrences dealt with the Battlefords RCMP between 6 a.m. Wednesday, March 19 and 6 a.m. Thursday, March 20. Two calls were false alarms and one was a false/nuisance call to 911. Wednesday 9:09 a.m.

Arena renovations will continue this spring with the foundation and drainage as the main focus. Thank you to Pipemaster Oilfield Services for a substantial donation that has helped move this project forward.

Isn't today the first day of spring on the calendar? Does it feel like it? The rash of sunshine and warm weather March 8 - 14 was fantastic.

Finally I think it is safe to say spring has found us! For the last week we have had melting snow but no word of crows or gophers yet. I will be waiting for Henry Konopelski to make the report of the first sightings.

With curling gaining popularity all over the province and in Canada, especially since the double gold medals won on the Olympic stage, a new style of curling spiel has begun gaining ground.
