The first 2014 meeting of the Maidstone Museum was held at the Maidstone Seniors' Centre Jan. 20 with president Mae Hinde presiding. Minutes from the last meeting were complied and read by Dorothy Schwartz.

The Battleford Beaver Blues earned three out of a possible four points last week in SPHL action. Kyle Litchenwald played a big part in the Maymont Settler's 7-6 overtime win over the Beaver Blues Saturday night in Battleford.

Cold weather nixes card session

Cards were cancelled at the Maidstone Drop In Centre Jan. 6 because of the extremely cold weather. Bingo was played Jan. 8 with a good turnout. Volunteer callers were Bev Stewart and Jean Hartman. Tillie Linkert provided lunch.

Sewer rates to go up four per cent

Last week at a budget meeting, North Battleford city councillors were concerned a two per cent increase to residents' sewer rates wouldn't keep up with expensive sewer replacement projects needed in the coming years.
