PINEL: Armand (May 5, 1939 - January 17, 2014). It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather, Armand Pinel.

The first 2014 meeting of the Maidstone Museum was held at the Maidstone Seniors' Centre Jan. 20 with president Mae Hinde presiding. Minutes from the last meeting were complied and read by Dorothy Schwartz.

St. John Ambulance continues to offer first aid training from its training centre located at 1225 - C 100th Street in North Battleford. Registrations can be done by mail, fax or by calling St. John Ambulance's Saskatoon office at 306-343-0041.

The reprieve from the extreme cold weather we experienced was enjoyed by all. However along with the milder temperatures were strong winds Wednesday that were nearing 100 kilometres per hour.

Dear Editor A white piece of paper, hanging on the bulletin board in the Neilburg post office lobby, caught my eye.

The first council meeting of 2014 was held Jan. 13 in the boardroom of the Village of Neilburg/RM of Hillsdale office. Present were Mayor Ernie Ducherer, administrator Janet Black and councillors Greg Bowes, Mike Fouhse and Susanne McDuff.

The Battleford Beaver Blues earned three out of a possible four points last week in SPHL action. Kyle Litchenwald played a big part in the Maymont Settler's 7-6 overtime win over the Beaver Blues Saturday night in Battleford.

Cards were cancelled at the Maidstone Drop In Centre Jan. 6 because of the extremely cold weather. Bingo was played Jan. 8 with a good turnout. Volunteer callers were Bev Stewart and Jean Hartman. Tillie Linkert provided lunch.

Last week at a budget meeting, North Battleford city councillors were concerned a two per cent increase to residents' sewer rates wouldn't keep up with expensive sewer replacement projects needed in the coming years.
