I feel since we started this column many of my stories have been sad and somewhat disturbing to many readers. I have received emails, phone calls and comments about how unaware people are of the situations we deal with every day.

I'm not entirely sure how it got there, but recently a roll of Kodak 400 MAX colour film found its way onto my desk. This is especially odd because I haven't shot a roll of film since August, 2003.

WILKIE: In Loving Memory of Helen Nellie Wilkie who was born December 8, 1919 at North Battleford, SK and passed away December 21, 2011 at North Battleford, SK.

With a substantial completion date of late March, the Aquatics Centre is likely to be, along with the theatre, the first of the CUPlex components finished.

JACKSON, George Henry was born on Dec. 12, 1935 to Edward and Mary Jackson. He had an elder brother James and a younger sister Helen. They lived in several log homes before moving to a farm overlooking the beautiful Battle River.

ALSAGER, Irene Edith June 21, 1919 - January 14, 2012 Irene was one of seven children born to Edith and Carl Grahn, north of Lloydminster, SK.

NACHTEGAELE: It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Gus Nachtegaele on Dec. 31, 2011 with his family by his side. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 62 years, Irene.
