Fire Chief Pat MacIsaac said there is no reason for anyone to be displaced from their at this time homes. The fire is out. NBFES will continue to monitor the scene and are dousing hot spots.

Killdeer area residents are keeping a wary eye on a huge grass fire lapping at the edges of their development Wednesday afternoon.

The blaze, which reporter John Cairns estimates is really three active fires, is burning on the northwest edge of the city. Smoke was first sighted shortly after noon.

The Battlefords Midget Stars started the 2011-12 regular season on the weekend by travelling to Wilcox to take on the Notre Dame Argos. The Argos out shot the Stars 108 to 30 while out scoring the Stars 20-4 in two games.

Dear Editor Regarding "Dust riles Riverbend Trailer Park residents" (News-Optimist, Sept. 14), welcome to club. Many of us in the heavy oil area have lived with thick dust for years.

Starting as early as Thursday, Highway 4 stretching from near Highway 16 to 22nd Street will be open to four-lane traffic. Southbound traffic will use new lanes built this construction season, while northbound traffic will use existing lanes.

I was in a small town in China, Ganzi, if you're interested in looking it up, like a surprising number of people my age, trying somehow to find myself in the dust, eight-hour bus rides and chaos that is still most of Asia off the beaten track.
