Football is thriving in the Battlefords. No longer is football a two-month season at the North Battleford Comprehensive High School - it has come to the forefront for many players no matter their age or experience.

A family dog died during a fire in North Battleford early Wednesday. The fire broke out in a single story residence at the 1200 block of 109th Street. The blaze broke out around 12:30 a.m. The fire was contained to the kitchen area.

The year is 1991, and Bonnie Raitt is coming off her most successful album to this time, and her first album under the Capitol record label.

Motion Captured, Motion Denied features clay and stoneware works by Jody Greenman-Barber and Zane Wilcox. These works were created in response to the concept of motion. Greenman-Barber's pieces focus on capturing motion as a moment in time.

Ed, my neighbour next door, believes in cheap, cheaper and cheapest, except when it comes to trucks, farm machinery, and men's suits. More wet weather has had Ed trapped between soggy fields and his idle seeding equipment.

North Battleford's city manager has been elected to a prestigious position with the Canadian Association of Municipal Administators. Jim Toye was elected president of the organization at their annual general meeting May 31 in Halifax.

Battleford council will be meeting next week as it is in the final stages of its budget process. A budget meeting has been scheduled for Monday at 6 p.m. at Battleford Town Hall.
