There's many movements and causes in Humboldt that happen each and every day; some are well known, others not as much but I'm sure many of you know of the SPCA's Foster for the Holidays program that happens at Christmas time every year.

Murray Hergott is Humboldt's Citizen of the Year for 2013 and just by his reaction alone to the news over the phone, it's hard to think of anyone more deserving. You could call him speechless. Blown away. Tongue-tied. Incredibly grateful.

ALTMANN: Allan Allan Richard Altmann, 84 years, of Cudworth, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at St. Paul's Hospital, Saskatoon. Allan was born on August 20, 1929 to George and Marguerite (nee Ciazinski) Altmann at Wakaw.

SCHEPER: Eleanore It is with great sadness that the family of Eleanore Scheper (nee Stumborg) announces her passing on December 23, 2013 at the age of 85 years, in Spiritwood, SK.

HOFMANN:Margaret Gertrude The peaceful death of Mrs. Margaret Gertrude Hofmann (nee Bergerman), 93 years of St. Mary's Villa, Humboldt and formerly of Muenster, occurred on Sunday, December 22, 2013.

FRERICHS : Alois "Al" Ferdinand December 4, 1936 - December 14, 2013 The death of Mr. Alois "Al" Frerichs of St. Gregor, SK, occurred at Humboldt District Hospital, Humboldt, SK, on Saturday, December 14, 2013. He was 77 years of age.
