There are seven (7) new cases of COVID-19 in the Nipawin area, called the North East 1 subzone by the province, as of Oct. 20. That brings the total in the area up to 18 active cases.

HUMBOLDT — Three opportunities are coming to find out more about the candidates running in the provincial and civic elections. The Humboldt and District Chamber of Commerce will host a provincial all-candidates forum on Friday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m.

NIPAWIN — Nipawin is seeing three people run for mayor and 10 run for councillor in the upcoming civic election. The election will be held on Monday, Nov. 9.

TISDALE — Mayor Al Jellicoe is uncontested in his re-election as mayor of Tisdale. With few councillors seeking re-election, Jellicoe said he would like to see some continuity around the council table.

HUMBOLDT — Signs overlaid with no-mask slogans and several dozen attendees were present at the Humboldt Civic Park on Sunday, as a rally was held decrying the provincial government for their COVID-19 response.

EAST CENTRAL — Two candidates, Linda Mattock and Heather Zazula, are running for trustee for the Horizon School Division’s Humboldt-St. Brieux seat, Subdivision 2. Horizon School Division school board elections will be held on Nov. 9.

HUMBOLDT — A search warrant at a 300 block residence on Humboldt’s 10th Street turned up methamphetamine, cocaine, cash and other evidence of drug trafficking. Humboldt RCMP executed the search warrant the afternoon of Oct. 15.
