MELFORT — Melfort is the first community in the region to receive fibre-optic internet. As of Feb. 19, SaskTel is providing the service in certain parts of the city. They said they will eventually expand it for the entire city.

HUMBOLDT — The weather is looking good for the upcoming Humboldt Vintage Club poker rally. The club is pairing up with the Naicam Snowblasters to put on their main fundraiser on Feb. 23 at the Humboldt Vintage Club on Highway 20.

PORCUPINE PLAIN — Saskatchewan’s oldest man, Cliff Olson, celebrated his 109th birthday in Porcupine Plain with cake and family. Born on Feb. 17, 1911, Cliff grew up nine miles west of Duval, farming with his three brothers and four sisters.

EAST CENTRAL — Due to system maintenance, SaskPower said it is planning power outages north of Humboldt. On Wednesday, Feb. 19, the plan is for an outage east of Middle Lake from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. On Thursday, Feb.

Virtually every team has a terrible game at the Scotties and Team Saskatchewan had that game Tuesday evening. It was a surprise after their fine game Tuesday afternoon.

MELFORT — A commercial business building on Melfort’s Burrows Avenue West was broken into. Melfort RCMP are asking for help to identify a person they believe could be connected to the crime. The break-in took place on Feb.

TISDALE — Kalen Ukrainetz became the Tisdale Trojans’ all-time leading scorer in impressive fashion. The third year forward from Wynyard scored three goals and recorded six points on Sunday afternoon in a 9-3 victory over the Beardy’s Blackhawks.
